Josep Oriol
Managing Partner
​Josep has extensive experience in investments, law and private equity spanning over 20 years in Africa, Europe, USA and Japan: first in conservation capital and subsequently at Kibo capital partners an SME private equity investor with $100M under management. Josep has acquired substantial experience in environmental conservation through investments in wildlife, tourism, forestry, carbon and his role on several board positions. He holds an MBA from Duke University, a degree in Law  (LLB) from Universidad Internacional  de Catalunya and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona.

Davinder Sikand
Partner

Davinder is one of Africa’s private equity pioneers with over 30 years’ experience in Africa, Europe and USA. He co-founded Aureos, a mid-market private equity firm where he served as  Deputy CEO and Head of Sub-Saharan African Operations. He later initiated the sale of Aureos to Abraaj group, a US$14Bn emerging market asset manager where he headed African operations. Davinder has extensive experience in environmental conservation through several board positions. He holds an MBA from Kellogg​​.

Giles Davies
Partner
Giles has over 20 years’ experience in private equity and impact investing in Africa, Europe and USA. He founded Conservation Capital (CC) and is widely recognized as one the of world’s leading specialists in conservation enterprise development and related investment financing.  He started his career at Price Waterhouse Coopers. In addition to his work with CC, Giles has considerable experience as a non-executive director of both private and listed companies.​

Brett Stevenson
Impact and Sustainability lead 

Brett leverages over 15 years of experience in program design and performance management, primarily in Africa. She has developed digital tools for improving data and analytics capacity for non-profits, social enterprises and multi-national companies.  She is the Chief Operating Officer for AWF's Conservation Bonds.  She also worked for Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN), building industry training on impact measurement and ESG practice. Brett holds an MBA from NYU and an engineering degree from the University of Calgary.

Caroline Chepkwony
Investment Manager

Caroline is a seasoned finance professional with 14 years of extensive experience in financial management. She founded Pesa crowd and previously worked for Fanisi Capital as a Chief Finance Officer and Investor Relations. Caroline started her career at Price Waterhouse Coopers in finance and business advisory roles.  She holds an MBA from the University of Oxford.

Elijah Gachohi
Analyst

Elijah has built his career at the intersection of financial investment and impact analysis. He previously worked for Gatsby Foundation where he acted on forestry analytics, economic and impact analysis. Prior to that he worked for PKF and  his engagements included M&A transactions, modelling and valuations. He holds a Bachelors in Economics and is a certified public accountant.

Vincent Rague
Investment Committee

Vincent has over 25 years’ experience at IFC and World Bank in investments, project finance and banking across Africa, Europe and Asia. He was previously the Chief Investment Officer at  IFC and served in a variety of senior management position, including as a manager in the SME  Department. He set up and managed IFC’s office in South Africa. During that time he originated and structured IFC’s first private equity investments in Africa.  ​

Charlotte Ward
Investment Committee

Charlotte is a Managing director at Global Innovation Fund. Previously she was a senior partner at AHL Venture Partners, the manager of impact investment for the Lundin family office and the AHL Growth Fund.  Charlotte spent the last ten years in Kenya working in development and investment (grant and venture capital) in early stage businesses.  Prior to that she worked at GSMA and Deutsche Bank where she was the vice president. Charlotte serves on several SMEs boards and holds a Masters in Applied Environment Studies from the University of Bristol​.

Jon has over 25 years’ experience in energy and investment banking. He is a partner at Westbeck Capital Management fund focused on energy. He spent ten years as a Managing Director at Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co., a leading energy investment and merchant bank. In addition to his management experience, he's held roles in institutional sales, capital markets  and research.  He serves as a board chairman at Conservation Strategy. ​

Elizabeth Littlefield
Advisor
Elizabeth is a Senior Counselor at Albright Stonebridge Group, a global business strategy firm. Previously, she was the President and CEO of OPIC with a $24 billion portfolio to support private investment in sustainable economic development. From 2000 until 2010 Littlefield was a director at the World Bank and the CEO of CGAP, a policy and research center for inclusive finance. Earlier in her career Littlefield was a Managing Director at JP Morgan’s capital markets and financing for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Elizabeth serves on several boards: The World Wildlife Fund, DAI, and Mkopa. She has also served on boards of Master card Foundation and Calvert Foundation.

​Carl is the former CEO of the Inter-American Investment Corporation, the multilateral private sector investment banking affiliate of the Inter-American Development Bank. Previously, he was head of investment banking for Mexico at J.P. Morgan & Co, and he  served on several boards, including Voxiva Inc., Microvest Funds, Ashoka (Spain), Global Citizen Year, and Emzingo. Carl co founded  Beeck Center for Social Impact and Innovation at Georgetown University. ​

She has been a significant funder of conservation initiatives for more than two decades.  She began impact investing in 2009 and was a founding investor in African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) Conservation Bonds. She serves on the boards of  AWF and the Wildlife Conservation Network. ​

​Ms. Tharmaratnam is part of the IC of the Small Enterprise Impact Investment Fund, a collection of funds investing in SME funds in growth markets, and an advisor at Capria Ventures.

He is also the Managing Director of Rockwood Leisure (hotels and lodges) in South Africa. Tom serves as the chairman of BioCarbon Partners and has also served as chairman of Timbavati Game reserve. He is a chartered accountant, and worked with Price Waterhouse Coopers.

Hassan Sachedina

Hassan is the CEO of BioCarbon Partners, an African leader in sustainable community forest management. Prior to founding BioCarbon Partners, he was  Vice President of  Wildlife Works, and a partner at Conservation Capital. Hassan’s PhD thesis was awarded the Audrey Richards Prize for the best Africanist thesis.  Hassan is a member of the IUCN Sustainable Use and Livelihoods Specialist Group​​.​​
